Septic Certification

If you are selling your home you will need to make sure that the Septic System has been certified. Certification insures that the septic tank has been pumped and inspected for leaks, or leach line problems - this is the buyers assurance that they are not buying a system that is failing or not working properly.

If your septic system fails the certification you will need to allow yourself enough time to make the necessary repairs before your closing date. The biggest problem a seller encounters is waiting until the last minute to schedule the certification. Try and schedule your certification as soon as you know you are going to sell your home.

This will insure you have plenty of time to schedule the certification, make any required repairs, and file the results with the county.

Certification costs $495 -- with another $50 fee if the tank lid exceeds 12 inches and needs to be uncovered. I recommend Old Pueblo at 744-1100. Just ask for Scott or Amy, and tell them David referred you to them. Old Pueblo responds quickly and they can file the necessary paperwork for you.
